The residents of New York City have silent (and creepy) guardians cemented to its famous buildings. Gargoyles are thought to ward off evil spirits and protect the buildings they are perched upon. Just look up and you’ll see them watching the city. Who knows they may even come alive at night to fight crime like in the 90’s cartoon!
Check out these fantastic creatures…
New York Times Building

The stone gargoyle that protects the NY Times building looks something like a cross between a pig and a dragon. Could this be what has protected the paper from peril and gave it continued success? All other publications beware!
Chrysler Building

These are the most famous depictions of gargoyles. They were made to resemble the first Chrysler logo, once upon a time when they actually sold cars (just kidding!) Now they surround the building like creepy eagles watching over the city.
City College of New York

The local college has a ton of gargoyles – some reading, some making funny faces, others with faces distorted beyond distinction. They serve as enforcers to make students
think twice about skipping class!
Monroe Community Hospital

In Brighton this hospital is protected by preoccupied gargoyles, reading books and laughing. Spending an eternity as stone, hanging on building ledges has to be rough, wonder what this one is thinking about!
Trinity Building

This lion and tiger duo are watching the city like prey. Gargoyles come in many forms they are not only demonesque little elves. There are a lot of animal forms that can be found on buildings across the city.
