Many men (and women, too) believe that women comedians aren’t funny. Now, I’ve seen a few women comedians perform on TV and I can see where people are coming from with this statement. But the women comedians in this list are very funny.

2) Wanda Sykes

Wanda Sykes is best known for her blunt observations of current events and life in general in her stand up acts. Her first big break came when she opened for Chris Rock at Caroline’s Comedy Club. Sykes had her own show called Wanda Does It and  voiced a character in the Comedy Central show, Cranker Yankers. Recently, she came out publicly stating that she’s a lesbian in a same-sex marriage rally.

1) Sarah Silverman

Sarah Silverman is one of the most, if not the most, controversial comedians out there. From racist jokes to jokes on religion, she some how manages to make audiences laugh. Now, she has had her share of offended audiences, getting booed off stage in the U.K., but what’s comedy without a little risk? Silverman first came into the spotlight as cast member in Saturday Night Live and now has her own TV show, The Sarah Silverman Program. She’s been doing professional comedy for over 17 years and continues to stay with her act as a caricature of a ‘Jewish-American princess’.

Check out her comparison of Jews and blacks on the Jay Leno show.
